Welcome to the Minister of Local Government's Page.

The current Minister is The Honorable Candresh Sharma
He has been a Member of Parliament since 1991, at the age of 31, when he was elected to serve the constituency of Fyzabad. Currently, he is the second longest serving Member of Parliament in the country.

Throughout the years, Mr. Sharma has been active in all areas of his constituency; where his activities centered around service to the community; his sole objective being to improve the lives of his constituents by piloting their concerns to the respective authorities in order to provide the necessary amenities - whether infrastructural, educational or social. He is passionate about Local Government service delivery and is very committed to empowering Municipal Corporations so that they can more effectively deliver services to the people.

As Minister of Local Government, Mr. Sharma sees himself playing a pivotal role in partnering with all stakeholders to achieve sustainable development for Trinidad and
Tobago, a role which he intends to fulfill to the best of his ability.
