What are the requirements for obtaining a Completion Certificate?
- Any person who intends to erect a new building or to alter a building shall give to Secretary of the Local Authority at his office, notice in writing of such intention on an approval printed form together with a dimensioned plan and section or a fully detailed description of such intended building which shall show the position form and dimensions of the several parts of such building; and he shall also at the same time give a description in writing of the materials to be used of every latrine and every other appurtenance, and whether the building is to be used as a dwelling house or otherwise.
- No works in connection with the erection, addition or alteration of any building should be commenced until the plans and specifications submitted by the owner have been approved by the Local Authority.
- After the plans have been approved, the owner shall notify in writing the Secretary of the Local Authority of the day on which any work in connection with the building is to be commenced.
- The building shall be constructed strictly in accordance with the approved plans from which no departure will be permitted. The approved plans should be kept on the premises for reference during the progress of the work.
- The Secretary of the Local Authority should be notified in writing within fourteen (14) days after the completion of any work in connection with a building.

What are the requirements for the submission of Building Applications to the Local Authority for approval?
- A building application shall consist of architectural and structural drawings and specifications of the proposed building along with prescribed forms, all of which must be submitted in duplicate.
- All building applications shall have the prior approval of the Town and Country Planning Division and of any other agency as may be required by the Local Authority.
- Architectural and structural drawings and specifications, referred to in paragraph (2) shall consist of the following:-
- LOCATION PLAN:
A proper Location Plan must be attached to ALL applications A Location Plan must be drawn so as to show:
- The land to which the application relates coloured pink;
- All adjoining land in the same ownership coloured green;
- The names of the adjoining land owners;
- BLOCK, PLOT OR SITE PLAN:
Such a plan shall show:
- The area, shape and dimensions of the proposed site,
- The building line;
- The position of the proposed building and of any existing building indicating whether the existing building is to be demolished or not;
- The name, position and width of existing and proposed means of access;
- Facilities for off street parking as well as loading;
- The position and direction of flow of any existing or proposed drains or watercourses;
- The position of any existing and proposed sanitary sewer system;
- The compass bearing;
The site plan must be accompanied by a survey plan prepared by a licensed land surveyor, and a copy of the land deed.
- FLOOR PLANS:
Such plans shall be provided for each floor of the proposed building and shall show:
- The dimensions, arrangement and position of the various rooms, walls, partitions, windows, doors, stairs and all other parts of the building;
- The type and position of all plumbing fixtures;
- The size of each room;
- The compass bearing;
- ELEVATIONS:
Elevations shall be provided for each face of the proposed building and shall show:
- The design, dimensions, materials and final appearance of the entire exterior of the building;
- Their relations to the floor plan (North Elevation, West Elevation etc.
- A SECTION OR SECTIONS:
Such sections through the building shall show:
- The dimensions and definitions of the materials to be used and the method of construction to be employed.
- Where it may not be possible for specific separate parts of the proposed building to be fully detailed on these sections separate details should be provided (e.g. beam details, footing details, stair details, etc.)
NOTE: Such separate details shall be adequately dimensioned and clearly define the materials to be used and method of construction to be employed.
- A FOUNDATION PLAN:
Such a plan shall show:
- The dimensions, arrangements and position of the various Footings, piles, columns, beams or whatever means are to be used support the superstructure of the proposed building.
- FLOOR FRAMING PLANS:
Such plans shall be provided for each floor of the proposed building, in the case of floors to be constructed above grade and shall show:
- The type, size and position of the various members to be used to support the floors,
- Details of the materials to be used and the method of construction to be employed in the construction of the various floors.
- A ROOF FRAMING PLAN:
Such a plan shall show:
- The dimensions, position and type of the various material and method of construction to be employed in the erection of the roof of the proposed building.
- PLUMBING PLANS:
Such plans shall show:
- The type size and position of all water supply, and waste lines;
- The dimensions of and details of the materials to be used and method of construction to be employed in the proposed building's sanitary sewer system (e.g. septic tank details etc).
- SPECIFICATIONS:
Such specifications shall describe the sizes, type and quality of all building materials to be employed in the construction of the proposed building. The methods of construction, fabrication or installation are also to be spelled out explicitly.
What are the lists of activities that must be done before the Cesspool Engineers arrive?
- Upon request of the driver, the householder must produce the receipt as proof of payment.
- Adequate access must be made available to the vacuum tanker in order that your septic tank/cesspit can be serviced. The tanker carries a one hundred and fifty feet (150') hose.
- The manhole cover of your septic tank must be unsealed before the tanker arrives at your premises. If your septic tank is sealed, the job will not be done.
- A sufficient supply of water (at least one (1) barrel) if you do not have a pipe borne supply must be provided for your tank/pit to be vacuumed.
- Your septic tank/cesspit will not be vacuumed if materials such as bottles, stones, rags, wood, newsprint etc., have been deposited in such.
- Be sure that you are satisfied with the service before signing the job sheet. If you are dissatisfied report the matter to the Corporation immediately.
- The job sheet must be signed by the owner or agent/servant present on completion of the service.
Where can I register for food badges and food premises?

What are the procedures to register for a food badge?
- Collect medical examination form and payment voucher, at which time the applicant will be advised with respect to schedule for food handlers lectures.
- Medical forms must be completed by a medical doctor
- Payments are made to Republic Bank
- Cost of food badge is Twenty-Five Dollars ($25.00)
- Attend food handlers’ lecture and submit application, completed medical form, receipt, and two passport photos after which the applicant will be advised with respect to the collection of the food badge.
What are the procedures for food premises registration?
- Applicant must submit completed food premises registration form.
- Food Inspector will inspect food premises, and the applicant will be advised with respect to the collection date for certificates.
